Job title: Optics Design Engineers (2 positions)

Location: Southampton, U.K.

The Role: Working as part of the optics engineering team the role involves designing, developing and performing optical test procedures in support of Mesophotonics product development programmes.

This position involves the ability to operate within a matrix structure and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with other groups including: sales, engineering and finance. This person must have the ability to work directly and effectively with technical staff and management.

An ideal candidate will be self-motivated with excellent communication, time management and problem solving skills and must be team player with excellent interpersonal and communications skills used to working to tight timelines and budgets. This position is within the optical engineering team which reports to the Director of Engineering.

Minimum requirements: A degree in engineering or physics, strong engineering skills in optical components and devices, experience of waveguide optics, photonics crystals or optical spectroscopy a must.

About Mesophotonics
Mesophotonics is commercialising breakthrough photonic crystal technology that allows light to be bent, routed and processed at sub-millimetre scale. This will enable multiple optical functions and complex systems to be implemented at high density on a single silicon chip, leading the way to low cost, high volume production of integrated optical devices. Additional optical devices will also be possible at efficiencies and sizes not previously achievable as photonic band gaps are used to modify fundamentally how light is generated inside photonic crystals.
